I have always installed the #1 cam bearing on a SBC with the holes at 1 and 4 o'clock position. This is facing the front of block in its upright position. 1 - 2 of 2 Posts. WebFeb 25, 2010 · Installed the cam a couple days ago to degree. Cam turns easy until the last 3/8" before being fully seated in the block. I can turn it with my hand on the cam gear with a little effort. Used a torque wrench on one of the cam bolts to turn it. Took less than 5 ft/lbs to turn it, probably about 3 ft/lbs.
