WebMar 5, 2014 · It's because the syncro's in the transmission aren't designed to shift into 1st faster than 15mph. You probably can shift into 1st going faster than 15mph however you will hear a nice grinding noise coming from the transmission. I noticed the cable has to be (mainly) adjusted on the engine end so all the slop is out, then mini adj. at the grip end wheel. after that the cable runs close to the header so the heat is going to expand it a bit (grows longer) and change the adj. you might add a heat shield.
